The date from hell
Melina went to lisa's home as she had a mother and father. There was only one room in that house and a living room and a modest kitchen. The house was small with a basement. That's where Lisa and her four younger siblings lived downstairs where all of them slept in one bed that looked like two queen size beds placed next to each other. Their clothes were all folded on shelves in a mess and a massive desk with all their school items laying on it. Her little sisters all had blonde hair like her and as Melina looked at the girls with Lisa being the oldest she realized her life wasn't as compact as Lisa's as she literally had no privacy and her sisters were her constant companion.
The bathroom was upstairs and the mom seemed depressed as she sat in front of the TV the entire time as she didn't move to offer any hospitality . Now wonder Lisa studied the way she did in study hall because her sisters gave her no peace to study at home . It was obvious the sisters never had visitors as they all stormed Melina like she was a human size Barbie doll as they all wanted to brush her hair .
Melina was funny about letting people touch her hair since the lice incident in the system. It broke their heart to be so needy for her attention that Melina decided she was going to play dress up with the girls to include them since they were all in the same space and it would be rude to ignore four girls and only play with Lisa . Melina stayed until it was almost dark as she knew she had to walk home before the street lights came on before she got in trouble about being out in the dark.
Melina wasn't allowed to drive her car since her mom had trusted her to drive the car to work one Saturday morning when she was too hung over to take her to work. Melina's car was special in a sense that you had to stay under forty miles per hour because if you went over it when you stopped at a red light it would shut off. The only way to crank it was to turn on the heat full blast and turn it over until it cranked. It take like ten minutes to start if you were lucky.
With that being said Melina rolled down her windows that was manual in case she needed to re crank her car. When it purred back to life you had to ease the gas to make sure you didn't speed unless you wanted the car to stop again. Melina had only a driver's permit and she made sure she had the heat on in ninety degree weather both windows rolled down and under forty the entire trip thirty five minutes from her home.
Melina's mom and step -dad was going to pick her up so David could be in the car to drive home. Melina sat at the red light as it was seven in the morning as she had to be there at eight thirty to open the mall that opened at nine in the morning. Melina was following traffic laws as she saw a man approached her on her passenger side and reach into the open window of the passenger side door to unlock the door to get in. Melina didn't care it was a red light as she was the only one on the road in the middle of the ghetto. Melina floored it as she sent the intruder jerked down the road as he cussed and yelled at the car speeding away.
Melina knew the dangers of alone female and car jackings. She made it to work frightened as she rolled up the windows and locked the door. She immediately called her mom and told her what happened. Because that's what responsible teenager drivers should do. Melina's mom instead of asking if she was okay or reassure her she did what was necessary to survive even if it was running a red light for her safety. Lara took the keys from Melina as told her she would never allowed to drive alone because she didn't have the sense to recognize dangers. Now Melina had a car she couldn't use because one incident of her running a red light. Melina made it home as she walked two miles and her mother wasn't even home. Melina came in as she just wanted to eat and go to bed but she knew that wasn't going to happen as she saw a sink full of dishes and the kitchen a mess. Her mother was home all day and she still made Melina clean up her mess as it looked like she was baking as Melina ran as she smelled something burning. Melina opened the oven to see a burnt lasagna as she was confused as her mom didn't cook as she put it on the counter to put out the fire Paula came running into the room as she had fell asleep while cooking high. She had a brilliant idea she wanted to cook during her munchies phase as she was confused why she was here and not with Landon . Paula had arranged for a surprise date with Andrew and was waiting for Melina to come home. All the while trying to burn the house down. Melina shook her head at her sisters perfect timing as she rushed her to get a showing and get ready for the date she didn't want. Lara had met Andrew before and when I mean he looked exactly like a younger version of my biological father it's was an uncanny scary. So when she saw him her misplaced nostalgia of her youthful love made a recommendation from Lara. This was a red flag for Melina as her mother had terrible taste in men . Her current civil husband David was on disability and had a crazy check. All he did was drink beer and ate sardines and milk like it was cereal. He took showers and yet he smelt like man. He hadn't held a real job since he was nineteen when his son died of Sids and he broke into a Tuskegee race track and decided he want to take a ride in a stolen race car. Every two years he would get a phycological evaluation and he would say some crazy ass shit and they would approve his as crazy and he go home and drink his beer and whisky. Melina knew any boy her mother approved of was not a good sign as Melina knew she would have to clean up the mess Paula made before they left. Melina was dressed as Landon came and got Melina for her forced set up with yet again another one of Paula's friends. Melina sneaking off to see Lisa was her getting a ride home with Lisa's dad and then walking home. Her mom didn't even notice Melina didn't come home after school. Melina had her date while Landon and Paula supervised her as the ordered pizza and watch a movie on dvd at their home. Melina was more happy to see Paula's three chows then the guy she was meant to see. Landon and Paula had an interesting relationship. Her house was littered with birds ,cats, dogs. Because Everytime they would fight his way of apologizing was bringing home a critter or giving her money to go shop her frustration away. There was eight birds ,the dogs, and two cats. You imagine how many times they were at each other's throats. Paula was only eighteen and a high school drop out. Landon family owned a chicken business where she waitressed. Melina reluctantly atr the pizza as the movie started . Paula say in Landon's lap as Melina watched Andrew looking at Paula strangely . It didn't take long for Paula to try to screw Landon on the armchair right next to her sister. Melina was used to this type of behavior from Paula as she ignored it. But Andrew was watching unashamedly. Melina watch Andrew as his eyes and reaction told a different story as he was clearly upset at how Paula was acting. Landon picked her up after he had enough of her teasing and took her to the room as they proceeded to have annoyingly loud sex. Between the sex noise and the movie and the darkness Andrew turned his attention to Melina as she saw he saw a bit stiff in his pants. He moved towards her now they were alone as the babysitters was too busy with their needs that they left the aftermath of Paula in the room with Melina. It clicked in her head Andrew only agreed to go out with Melina because he loved Paula and the reaction he showed was self evident. Melina hated when her sisters did that setting her up with their leftovers. She immediately grabbed the chow next to her and place him in her lap as the dog growled at Andrew getting too close to Melina. Andrew made shallow conversations. " Are you enjoying the movie?" He asked as Melina knew he felt the rejection she caused. He was aroused and was not going to use Melina on their first meeting to ease his frustration. She wasn't Paula she didn't trade sex for attention. " Hard to watch the movie when I'm have a sex education lesson going on two feet away from me." Snipped Melina as she held the chow like a barrier between them. " Yeah that was something. I can't believe she did that in front of you." He said as Melina raised her eyebrows at him acting like he was shocked for her instead of enjoying the show himself. " I'm used to it. My sister don't know how to behave around the male species . It's like a bitch in heat when men are around. I've seen way worse." Said Melina as the both looked back as the door opened and they both came out flushed and unshelved like they weren't just having sex while they were tasked to make sure no one touched Melina . " That was quick ." Snipped Melina as she stood up and handed the dog to Paula. Paula raised her eyebrows at the comment as Melina went to the kitchen for more pizza . She hated pizza but anything to get away from Andrew and Paula's obvious sexual tension in the room. Landon looked more embarrassed Melina called out their escapades earlier as he took Paula into a hushed whispers as this was how a fight started. Melina rolled her eyes as this house couldn't afford anymore animals . Melina sat at the island bar and ate her pizza alone. Andrew stood awkwardly as Landon popped his head in . " Hey are you alright?" He asked as he noticed her mood. " No I'm tired. I want to go home. It was fun but I need to sleep." Said Melina as the date was ruined and she was over it all. " Oh okay. Let me get my keys and tell Paula we will take you home." He said as he knew the date was over and the plan failed miserably. The entire ride home Andrew glared at Paula in the front seat as Melina noticed. Landon didn't say a word as him and Paula was silently fighting again. Landon stopped as Andrew walked her to the front door. He rocked on his heels as he tried to asked for another date since this one was ruined. " That was interesting date. I had a decent time. But I would like to see you again if you want." He asked as Melina narrowed her eyes and held up her hand to his face. " That won't be happening. Goodnight." Said Melina as he looked hurt and confused as he nodded his head and left. Paula and Landon watch the two hoping for a kiss but instead got a dismissal. Andrew returned to the car as Melina went inside as her phone rang . She rolled her eyes as she answered knowing she was about to get in trouble. " What!" Melina said aggervated. " Don't you what me. What did you do to Andrew." Asked Landon as she could hear the echoed of the speaker phone in his car. " I didn't do anything. Look it was a nice try what you did but next time please get me a guy who won't stare at my sisters ass the entire night and ignore me his date . I'm not interested in my sisters regurtated food." Said Melina as silence was pin drop as Landon responded. " I understand. " He said as Melina could feel the news of her words was something he suspected but never admitted. " It's nothing against you Landon , but stop setting me up with your friends. I think it's rather fucked up everyone wants me to date when I perfectly fine alone. " Said Melina as she knew not to hang up on Landon as all he was doing was doing as Lara and Paula asked. " You know your an ungrateful little shit, Melina!" Yelled Paula as she listened into the conversation. " And your a whore so I suppose we have our own flaws. Stop bringing me your leftovers . For once I would love to have the first taste and not the last bite. For fucks sake Paula !" Yelled Melina as she hung up on Paula . Melina knew she would pay for that outburst but she was tired of being set up with guys that her sisters rejected . First sharpie, and now Andrew. It was becoming a pattern and she felt like they thought she was too stupid or naive to know the difference between yesterday's trash and today's mess.
