Jimmy’s gut rumbled. He clutched his belly.
“I knew I shouldn’t have eaten that enchilada for lunch,” he thought. He tried concentrating on his math test but found it increasingly difficult. He glanced around the room and noticed everyone was too distracted by their own tests to pay any attention to Jimmy. Mr. Fisher was too distracted by reading his novel to care about a fart. Jimmy tried lifting one cheek and squeezing off a silent but deadly fart. He let it rip, and a giant fart cloud came out of his bottom and wafted overhead. It was green for some reason.
He watched in wide-eyed horror as the stink cloud continued to waft overhead. It lingered over Miss Prim and proper, Paige Kittel. She had her black hair pulled back in a perfect ponytail. Her white Keds were under her desk. The cloud engulfed her and exploded. She fell out of her chair. The blast from the explosion knocked the entire class to the floor. Mr. Fisher was pinned up against the blackboard.
“Oh, Good heavens,” Mr. Fisher exclaimed.
There was a sickly green hue to the room now. Bookbags and desks were melted. The windows were blown out. Glass went flying everywhere. Everyone pushed and elbowed one another as they made their way out of the room. Mr. Fisher gagged, and his eyes burned. Jimmy Gage,d and his face was flushed. Jimmy made his way out into the hallway. Then he saw the fart cloumaked its way to the gym. He ran to the window and peered into the gym as the fart cloud wafted in there. He watched in horror as the fart cloud caused kids to fall over. One child screamed as he fell off the rope. The gym teacher passed out.
Jimmy found the janitor, Mr. Rodney, and asked him to plug in the giant fan. Mr. Rodney obliged and did so. Everyone just watched the fan blow the stink cloud out the back door. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
“The beast is gone,” Lisa Phillips cheered. The gym teacher sat up, and so did Shawn More; he was the kid who had fallen off the rope.
“That was quick thinking with the fan kid,” Mr. Rodney said. Jimmy nodded.
He was relieved and thought that the nightmare was over until he noticed Bill Grant holding his stomach.
“Did you eat an enchilada too?” Jimmy asked. Bill nodded as his belly gurgled. Mr. Rodney’s eyes widened. He picked the child up and ran outside. He sat the child down just in time. The birds fell out of the sk,y and the leaves on the trees evaporated. The fart cloud turned the school yard a sickly green.
“They really ought to ban enchiladas from the school menu,” Mr. Rodney said.
