Five
We got dropped mid air out into the woods. We both let out a groan as we hit the ground, and as I sit up I see them teleporting mid flight. I dusted myself off annoyed with the fact that this happened. They were just excited about me being this prophecy supposedly, but then they kick us out all because I mention a demon is my friend? That’s so dumb. I let out a sigh as I look over at Necra who was dusting himself off with an annoyed expression. I took a step towards him to say something, when he stops me with a cold glare. I pulled my hand back in shock and fear, but it went away quickly as I try to regain my composure.
“You got some nerve mortal.”
“Me? I helped you, they were gonna kill you or something.”
“I can handle myself.”
“Sure. Like you handled yourself when you got captured by the very beings who wanted to kill you?”
“I can’t handle myself. I don’t need some mortal to save me.”
“Why are you ungrateful? Is it really that hard to just say thank you? I was trying to help you.”
“I don’t need your help.”
I let out a gasp when he suddenly disappeared. Teleported away leaving me all alone in the middle of the woods. I look around the woods yelling for him to come back. He can’t really be that upset? I was just trying to help, was that so wrong? I didn’t think that would make him so upset to the point he would stranded me here. I grabbed onto my hair, pulling it frustrating as I’m panicking. He can’t do this to me, we had a deal! I have no idea where I’m going or what this world is capable of. I need him, and I need to get to Destiny’s lair.
“Ned! Please come back!”
Silence.
“Ned! Or uh Ne-ron or whatever you say your name! Please don’t leave me here! I don’t know where I am! I don’t know where to go!”
More silence.
I begin to panic more. My heart started to race as I felt I’m gonna get lost, killed or even kidnapped again. I know nothing about this world, and of its inhabitants. Nothing about their laws, who’s good and who’s bad and what they considered right and wrong. I don’t know who to trust, and Necra was the only one I knew and who I could somewhat trust. I look around the quiet woods, feeling very afraid and don’t even know which way to go. How will I get to Destiny’s lair now?
“Please come back!”
Silence again.
“Neckron please!”
I just kept getting silent air back, and knew he’s probably never coming back. I leaned against a tree as I slid down feeling defeated. I don’t know what to do now. I wish this was a dream, so I could just wake up from this nightmare. I pulled my legs closer to my chest as I folded my arms on top of them. I lay my head on top of it as I felt tears slip out. I’m alone. I’m lost, and I might die out here. Even by starvation or by some creature I haven’t encountered yet. The worst part is this is still my first day here. I haven’t even been here two days, or a week. This has all happened in one day, and I haven’t even experienced how night time is. I’m afraid to experience it, honestly. Who knows what goes around at night time in this world.
I’m not sure how long I sat there crying, pitying myself until I was almost dozing off. I could feel the tiredness slowly taken over me, as I was fighting it for a while but soon decided to just let it overtake me. I was nearly fully asleep, when I heard it that made me jump awake. I look around the woods, but remembered that she’s just in my mind like last time.
“You’re alone.”
“Destiny.”
“You’ve figured out my name. I’m touched.”
“I had someone tell me.”
“Yes, the demon boy Necra. I see that he left your side?”
“It’s my fault. I don’t know anything about this world or the beings that live here. I insulted him, by helping him by calling him my friend.”
“Child, you did not insult him.”
“What? I don’t know Destiny he seemed pretty insulted.”
“He’s a demon, they don’t see kindness from anybody everyday. So, child the fact that you called him your friend threw him off.”
“So, he doesn’t hate me? You think he will come back?”
“I know he will.”
I let out a small smile knowing that, and when I went to ask Destiny another question. I somehow knew that she left my mind, making me feel disappointed and alone. I was hoping to ask her all of my questions, but I guess that will have to wait until I see her in person. I took a deep breath as I stood up and felt like a new person. I shouldn’t wait for him to come back, and should just start continuing this journey until he does come back. He should hopefully show up soon, and before I get too far. I started walking in one direction, and hoped that it was north that I was heading. I try to keep my eyes peeled in case anymore creatures show up. I don’t exactly know what I’m looking for, and I don’t know what her lair even looks like. I mean is it in a cave, a building or what? All I’m seeing is trees and more woods. This is gonna take me forever.
I’ve been walking for what felt like an hour when I found another stream. I ran towards it taking gulps of water, and splashing some water on my face. I let out a sigh of relief as this water is just so refreshing, that it makes my water from my world seem so dull. Of course my world is already seeming dull compared to this world. I mean here there’s creatures, magic, prophecies, prophets, dragons, and who knows what else. I have a feeling there will be a whole lot out there that I haven’t encountered yet.
“Someone is thirsty.”
I jump as I spun around towards the voice, and saw Necra is back. I never thought I’ll be so happy to see that grumpy demon again. I ran up to him and pulled him into a hug. He tensed up as he tries to pull away, but gives up as he lets out an annoyed sigh.
“You came back!”
“Yeah well, I didn’t have a choice.”
“What do you mean?”
“We had a deal, and so I have to keep my end of the deal if I want my end of the bargain.”
I stare at him as he crosses his arms, and I probably would’ve believed that was his reason on coming back. But, I talked with Destiny and it makes me think differently. He talks big and all confident, but I think deep inside he just wants a friend. Like what Destiny said, demons are hated here and aren’t used to people being kind to them. I bet most demons just want friends and to feel welcomed and feel appreciative. Then maybe they won’t all turn to crimes and whatnot.
“Whatever you say, friend. Shall we continue our way to Destiny’s lair then?”
I saw him flinch a bit from the corner of my eye before he just agrees. We continue our way, and it was quiet but it was at least peaceful. I don’t know how much further we got until we get there, but I’m hoping we get there soon. The sooner the better, and sooner I can get the answers I’ve been seeking. Necra suggests that we try teleporting every now and then to speed things up. I don’t know why he didn’t suggest it sooner, but I agreed. I’m just not gonna like the after effects of teleportation. He grabs onto my wrist and the same black smoke appeared making us disappear, before reappearing in a different location. We couldn’t teleport right away, because I guess it takes energy to teleport and it takes even more energy with a passenger. Now I see why he hates to teleport with me. I feel bad, but we need to get to Destiny’s lair quickly. Then maybe I can just go home, and she can just pass the prophecy to someone else. It’s wishful thinking at least. I gotta hold onto some sort of hope.
Necra rested for a bit before teleporting us again. We did this at least three or four more times, until he had to stop for the day. I saw the exhaustion on his face, and wish I knew how to help him. I never knew teleportation could be so exhausting. I just knew it’s easier to get to places but that’s about it. I watch as Necra leans against a tree, as he folds his arms and cross his ankles on top of one another. I watch as he lets out a yawn, as he closes his eyes to rest. I leaned against a tree as well, but I look up at the sky and saw that the sun was finally starting to set. What a long ass day this has been. I’m never gonna get used to these long days or long nights. I’ve been exhausted before the day was even half over with, and now that night is finally coming to us. I’m more likely won’t sleep through the entire night. I highly doubt anyone in this world does if they do then I’m honestly impressed.
We have to be getting close to Destiny’s lair by now. I mean we teleported a good amount, and seemed to have made good distance. I hope we will be there by morning, and then everything will start making somewhat more sense. We just need to get there, and start asking our questions. Hopefully we can get there with no more problems, and hopefully the night will be peaceful. I let out a yawn as my eyes slowly drifted close. I didn’t even try to stop them, as after everything that happened today my body is just exhausted. I’m longing for sleep.
