Chapter Thirteen: Good Morning, Lucky!
Hami was startled awake by loud squaking. He knew it must have been coming from Kiki's room, but he was still confused as he woke up. He wasn't sure how much sleep he'd gotten, but he was sure it wasn't a full 8 hours.
He didn't bother looking at his watch; he'd fallen asleep in yesterday's clothes, but the room was so dark you couldn't see anything. He heard quiet snoring coming from the bed area of his room. Tiffany was still here and still sleeping. Lucky her.
Hami got up and headed over to Kiki's room. He knocked on the door, and Kiki answered right away. It was strange how he could hear Lucky from his room, and when Kiki had the door open, but from the hallway, it was very quiet. They must have soundproofed a lot.
"Sorry, Lucky is an early riser, and he loves being loud when he wakes up," Kiki shouted above Lucky's good morning squawks. He threw in a few words from time to time, but mostly he just made strange squacking noises. "He'll be like this for a while. Did he wake you up?"
"Yes, but I think I at least got 5 hours, so that's more than yesterday." Hami shrugged. He hadn't gotten the chance to do his usual wake-up routine. He'd been in too much of a hurry the past two days. "I guess I should go check on Ron." Kiki nodded, but it was hard to tell if she actually heard him over Lucky's sqwaking.
Hami walked across the Hall and took out his spare keycard for Ron's room. He braced himself for what he might see. The room was relatively unscathed. No pictures missing, or any broken furniture. Until he turned the corner into the living room. There were half-naked bodies everywhere. The side tables were smashed to pieces, the couch had a chainsaw sticking out of it, and there was glitter and feathers everywhere.
"I left too soon," Hami concluded. He was so happy he was not the person who had to clean this up or pay for it. He looks around the room for Ron, but didn't see his face on any of the passed-out people. Hami moved on to Ron's bedroom, where there were three bow ties on the door and a trail of men's and women's clothing. "Ron, are you awake in there?" Hami asked from the other side of the door. He was only coming in if Ron said he was in danger.
"Hami, you gotta help me out, I'm in danger!"
shit Hami opened the door slowly, bracing himself. Ron was lying in a large bed that was covered in feathers. No pillows or blankets. He was as naked as the first day they met. Ron's foot was tied to the bedpost. Hami looked around for something to cover him. He found a blanket lying on the ground and draped it over Ron's body.
"You'll look like an old man someday, too, you know." Ron's embarrassment was easy to hear in his voice. He was getting different, but technically, this is what Hami was getting paid for. He untied Ron's foot and let him take a shower and get dressed. He wanted to ask what had happened, but at the same time, it was probably safer if he didn't know.
"I'm going to go check on Tiffany. I'll be back later." Hami said to Ron as he headed to the shower.
"You dirty dog!" Ron made an obscene gesture. Hami rolled his eyes and left. He stepped over several people and made his way back to his room. He finally checked his watch.
8:03 AM
He hoped Tiffany was okay with being woken up early. Luckily, Tiffany was already awake when he got back to his room.
"I'm so sorry, I was so drunk last night, I don't even remember what I said, but I feel like I owe you an apology." Tiffany's face was so red. "I don't usually drink like that; my life is just a mess right now."
"It's alright," Hami said. "Yesterday was a crazy day."
"You don't know the half of it. That set yesterday, Ron having his fit before storming off to his trailer, then when he was back, he was fine, but then someone stole some of the props, and a truck went missing." Tiffany rattled on while she put her shoes on. "But I'm also having some trouble with my ex, ugh. You don't need to know my life problems."
"I understand," Hami was hoping she would leave so he could shower and change. He also wanted to do his morning routine workout, but he didn't want to do that in front of her.
"I guess I should go. Do you work with celebrities often?" Tiffany picked up her purse and fixed her makeup in the mirror by the door. "I'm only asking because I work on a lot of local production sets. I might see you around." She smiled at Hami. Hami smiled back.
"Yeah," Hami didn't know if he would be doing jobs like this much again. "I might see you around." After a few more minutes of small talk, Tiffany finally left, and Hami could finally be alone. He stripped down to his underwear and did his morning workout routine, and then jumped in the shower.
