Part 5 - The End
Within an hour, our destination came into view. From above, Gemville looked breathtaking—its rooftops and winding streets spread out like a painting. Hollow steered steadily, sipping coffee between careful hands on the wheel. Malachi and I stepped inside.
"Everything going okay?" I asked.
"Smooth sailing," Hollow replied. "Other than that little turbulence."
"That's good," Malachi said. "How much longer until we land?"
"Not much longer," Hollow assured.
"I can't believe this place actually exists," I whispered.
Hollow nodded. "It felt like a fairytale, but now that we're all seeing it together, it's real."
We agreed, excitement bubbling. Hollow suggested we grab food while he finished the descent. "Bring me back a plate when you can," he added with a smile.
In the dining cabin, plates were already prepared. Malachi and I sat at our usual spot. "This voyage has been long," I said, smiling at him, "but it's been fun—especially since we spent it together."
"It has," he agreed. "I'm curious to see what Gemville has to offer—and what the people are like."
Moments later, Hollow's voice rang through the intercom: "We've arrived. Landing in five minutes." The ship shook gently as we drew closer.
I carried Hollow's plate back to him. "Here you go," I said.
"Thank you," he replied warmly. "Can't wait to eat this before we board off."
Back on deck, Malachi pointed ahead. "Look—it's amazing." The breeze rushed past us; birds cawed overhead, and the village shimmered in the distance.
We landed safely on solid ground. Hollow secured the ship while Malachi and I stretched, then stepped onto the earth. A sign greeted us: Welcome to Gemville.
"Not too far of a walk," I said.
"Let's start," Malachi agreed.
Five minutes later, we entered the town. Music filled the air, children ran to the market, and villagers welcomed us warmly. Hollow caught up as Malachi and I split off—he toward the music, me toward the market.
At the stalls, I marveled at the animals—Pegasus, parrots, lizards, owls—and admired a stand of hand‑painted artwork. "Your work is incredible," I told the vendor.
"Thank you," he said proudly. "All by hand."
I purchased a painting that caught my eye, tucking it under my arm as I continued exploring.
An hour later, I met Malachi by the fountain. "Ready to explore?" he asked.
"Sure," I said. As the sun set, crystals began glowing from the ground, casting colors across the village. "So it's true," I whispered. "The book was right."
Malachi smiled. "That's beautiful."
We wandered together, chatting with villagers, spotting Hollow dancing and laughing among them. Eventually, we found a waterfall surrounded by flowers and trees. We sat, cuddled, and I whispered, "This is romantic." He kissed me, sealing the memory of our journey.
Later, Hollow joined us. "We'll spend the night here, then leave in the morning." We agreed, following him to a small inn.
Morning came. I woke beside Malachi, comforted by his presence. "Where are you going, sweetheart?" He asked.
"Downstairs for breakfast," I replied.
We ate together, wishing we could stay longer. But Hollow was ready to depart. After thanking the innkeepers, we walked back to the ship, waving goodbye to the villagers. They gifted us small tokens to remember Gemville.
"Goodbye, everyone! Thank you for your hospitality," we called.
Hollow unhooked the ship, boarded quickly, and with one last wave, we lifted into the skies—off toward our next adventure.
