Part 4
A couple of hours later, I was back in the valley, sitting in my apartment and telling Sam everything I'd seen.
"Sam, I swear the whole time I was there, the atmosphere was unsettling. And when I stumbled on that ritual site? I don't know what goes on there, and honestly, I don't want to know — but I can guess."
He leaned in, interested. "You went alone? Willow didn't join?"
"I texted her before I left, told her she could come if she wanted. But once I got to the canyons, I had no service. I didn't know if she replied. So, I did it alone. I took pictures, though — backed them up on my laptop."
He nodded slowly, thinking about what could've happened if things had gone wrong.
"Well, at least you made it out safely."
"True. And Willow didn't want to come anyway. She's still shaken up after what we heard last night."
We talked a little longer before I remembered something.
"Oh! What did your sister say about her potted plants?"
He sighed. "She was upset. She'd been growing those for a while. She'll buy new pots and seeds and start over. But if whoever did it comes back, I'll make sure they're sorry."
I smirked. "I agree. Revenge will be sweet."
