Part 7 - The End
Back home in Louisiana, the family of four continued living their busy, lively days, enjoying the time they had together. One afternoon, Timothy asked his mom if their house had any history. She told him it was built in the mid‑1800s, once home to a family of four — a mother, a father, a fifteen‑year‑old girl, and an eight‑year‑old boy. She explained that spirits linger here, but they're good spirits. I could tell Timothy was listening closely, curiosity growing in his eyes.
Then I saw Maribelle lift the old violin that had been left behind. Someone had cleaned it, placed it in a case, and displayed it so others could see. She held it gently and began to play near the window, her music drifting through the main room. Everyone fell silent. Serena walked in and smiled softly.
"That's Maribelle," she said. "She used to play classical pieces back in her time. She's a sweet girl — and she has a younger brother who's a little younger than you, Timothy."
Timothy blinked. "No way... really? That's incredible. Strange, but... I'll get used to it."
Nancy looked at her husband. "Honey, what do you think about all this?"
Nick hesitated, surprised. "I'm a skeptical person... but I'm giving this house a chance. If spirits are here, I want them to show themselves. It's strange, and I don't know how to feel yet, but... I'll settle into it."
Hearing that made us happy. It gave Arthur and me the idea to let him manifest to the rest of the family, just as I had.
A few days later, Arthur decided to reveal himself to Timothy. He flickered the light switch, making Timothy jump.
"Okay... who's messing with me?" Timothy said, looking around. Arthur giggled, and Timothy felt his presence. Remembering what Serena had said, he whispered, "Arthur... please show yourself."
Arthur turned off the television. Timothy froze, then nodded slowly. "Alright. I guess that's you. This'll take some getting used to."
He wasn't wrong — the house is active now. But nothing here was harmful unless someone disrespected us.
Next, Arthur and I went to find the dad. We spotted him in the basement. I gently closed the door, catching his attention. He assumed it was his wife or the kids and went back to organizing shelves. Then Arthur flickered the light switch. The dad froze.
"Who's in here with me?" He asked quietly. "Is it the two children spirits? I don't want any trouble."
Arthur flickered the switch again.
"Is that a no?" He asked. "Lights on for yes, off for no."
I turned the lights on.
He exhaled. "Alright. It's good to know you're here. Just... don't scare me like that."
We left him alone after that.
Arthur spent time with Timothy, and I went to check on Serena and the mom. This family has been good to us — a little chaotic, but kind. We still don't know what happened to our parents or where they ended up. That remains a mystery.
But for now, I have my brother. And I have this family. And that's enough.
Until next time.
