Passage 1
Chelsea and Leah LeBarrone were two typical amish girls living in their close amish community. Their family though was far from typical amish though. They had never stepped outside of the safety of their amish community either. They soon would do that though when they turned 16 years old. Their older brother Jacob had done so when he had turned 16 years old. When amish children turned 16 years old, they were given the option of leaving the safety of the community to enter into the english world for a period of time. Amish teens leaving their community when they turned 16 years old was known as Rumspringa. It was a right of passage in a sense, it was their choice though. Jacob had gone on his Rumspringa for several months. Jacob had fully intergrated into the english life. Jacob was the oldest of 7 children. Jacob was also a twin, but his twin had died when they were a few months old. No-one in the community had ever really talked about it either. Within about a year of having Jacob and Joshua, his mother got pregnant again with another set of twins. Jacob had been 1 year old when Chelsea and Leah had been born. Their father was always out in the field or doing something else. He was usually gone from sun-up to sun down. Jacob's parents took the amish life very seriously. When Jacob had turned 16 years old and talked to their parents about going into the english world, his parents weren't hesitant at all about allowing him to do it. Their mother encouraged him to do it because she wanted more for their children other than the amish community.
